Saint Marko Križevčanin
Saint Marko from Križevci, martyr, was born in 1589 in Križevci – a free royal city (1252). He studied philosophy at the Jesuit institutes in Graz, where he was enrolled as Marko Krizin Croatian Križevčanin, and in Rome at the University of Gremanikum, where he signed his name Marko Stjepan Krizin. It is obvious from the documents that he was a priest of the Zagreb diocese, and from 1616 a professor and director of the seminary in Trnava, a canon of Ostrogon; with the Jesuits Melkior Grodziecki and Stjepan Pongracz on September 7, 1619, he was martyred in Košice (Slovakia). He declared them holy on July 2, 1995. John Paul II in Košice.
Prayer: “God, our Father!”
God, our Father! Your martyrs are St. Marko Križevčanin, Stjepan Pongracz and Melkior Grodziecki suffered martyrdom as a testimony of their faith in Jesus Christ and the Holy Father. We Croats, compatriots of St. Marko Križevčanin, grant us the grace to understand our faith more deeply and live in it with the power of the Holy Spirit. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. RULES FOR A GOOD CHRISTIAN SPIRITUAL LIFE
- To firmly and joyfully believe that Jesus Christ is “the Way, the Truth and the Life” and that He is “the true Light that enlightens every man” (Jn 1:9) and to accept Jesus and the Gospel with all his heart.
- Honestly admit your sins, repent for them and go to confession at least once a month. Never live in grievous sin.
- Go regularly to Holy Mass on Sundays and holidays, and during the week try to attend St. Mass at least 1-2 times. To receive communion regularly (“Whoever eats My Body and drinks My Blood has ETERNAL LIFE and I will raise him up on the last day”).
- Fasting preferably one day a week on bread and water and another day a week not eating meat.
- Pray in the morning for at least half an hour (this includes the morning Holy Mass). Pray at least one tenth of the Rosary or the entire Rosary per day.
- Read the Bible daily (at least a few lines) and at least one spiritual book a month.
7. Try to go on at least one pilgrimage a year, because great spiritual strength is received in the shrines and one always takes one step forward in faith.
- Constantly question whether I live according to the words of Jesus: whether I love every person (even my enemies – MT 5:44), whether I forgive everyone, whether I judge and gossip about others, whether I am a merciful, joyful and kind disciple of Jesus .
9. Living modestly and disciplined. Don’t waste money, avoid excessive going out to worldly places (disco clubs, cafes…). Dress neatly and decently (especially women). Go to rest no later than 24 hours and get up no later than 8 in the morning. Minimize watching TV, take care of your physical development and health.
- Before marriage, live purely without premarital relations), and in marriage according to church regulations (natural family planning).
11. To live with everyone in peace. Avoid tension. Humbly accept your difficulties and crosses, knowing that God turns everything for good to those who love him, as St. Paul.
- Fulfill your obligations in study and work.
- Respect parents, priests, professors and superiors.
- Try to attend Adoration for one hour a week or stay in prayer in church for one hour a week (be alone with Jesus who is present in the Holy Altar Sacrament). HOW TO BEHAVE IN CHURCH
- The church is the house of God, therefore it is a holy place. Nowhere is greater decency and good governance more necessary than before God. We show whether we are convinced believers by how we conduct ourselves in the church.
- First of all, take care of your suit, which should be neat, clean and neat. Some ways of dressing (sleeveless T-shirt, low-cut dresses, shorts, sports clothes) are not suitable for the house of God you are entering. In any case, distinguish clothes that are suitable for church from those for sports fields or the beach.
- Before entering the church, turn off your cell phone if you have one, take the chewing gum out of your mouth, if you have it. Men reveal their heads if they wear a cap or a hat. Do not eat or chew anything in church. Don’t read newspapers, not even church ones.
- Don’t be late for church, because by doing so you belittle the service of God and disturb other believers. Do not leave the church before the service ends and the priest returns to the sacristy. .Only a great need can excuse going out while the ceremony is still going on.
- It is understood that all the rules of good behavior that are valid elsewhere, are also valid in the church. He stands, he kneels, he always sits upright, he does not lean against the wall or against a pillar; the hands are not kept in the pockets or on the back, the legs are not crossed over each other, it is not turned around when someone enters or leaves. You should beware of chattering, winking, laughing, picking your nose, etc.
- When entering the church, touch the blessed water with your fingertips, which reminds you of your holy baptism, and cross yourself devoutly.
7. Make the sign of the cross with reverence. Place your left hand on your chest and open your right hand to touch your forehead, chest, left and right shoulder. In particular, avoid careless and too fast crossing.
8. Never stay at the front door, just in case you can’t get any further than the crowd. Go to the pew where there is a free seat, bend one knee to the ground, enter the pew and kneel on both knees to greet Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.
- In a place of honor in every church there is a sacristy in which the Body of Christ is kept under the circumstances of the consecrated bread. When entering and leaving the church or passing in front of the sanctuary, bow to the Lord Jesus by bending your right knee to the ground. (avoid bending your knee a little and not touching the ground.)
- May Jesus in the tabernacle be the first one you greet in the church. After that, you can pray in front of the image of the Blessed Virgin Mary or come in front of a picture or statue of a saint.
- Devout silence should reign in the church. If you have to say something to someone, do it quietly and briefly. Avoid conversation, because it disturbs those who pray and betrays a lack of respect for the holy place. The conversation should be postponed after the service and in front of the church, and not at the end create a murmur in the church, as in the market.
- When praying together, adjust the pitch and speed of your voice to the others so that your voice does not stand out, whether you pray too slowly, too fast or too loudly.
13. If you have no ear for beautiful singing, sing softly or be silent.
- When you fold your hands in prayer, keep them at chest level, folded or folded.
- The Most Holy Altar Sacrament is displayed in the display. He bows before Him on one or both knees. Then one goes to the pew to kneel or sit on chairs, to meditate or pray as desired.
16. Before leaving the church, kneel and cross yourself as you did when entering, and only then leave. This is how we greet Jesus who is at the center of the church.
- It is good to take small children to church so that they know how to behave in church and learn to pray from a young age. It is good to bring them before the mass and explain how to behave in the church during the mass. Parents should make sure that children do not disturb others. It is better to let them walk around in silence than to hold them tightly in your hand or arms so that they complain or scream. Adult children should be taught not to eat candy or chew gum during mass.
- When visiting the church, take blessed water upon entering, cross yourself and kneel. Then you can go around the church, if there is no religious act being performed.
- In processions and funerals, you should go with your head uncovered, i.e. without a hat on your head, collected without talking and laughing, because all this shows distraction, superficiality and disrespect for the sacred. A FEW NOTES ABOUT THE HOLY MASS
The Holy Mass is the most perfect prayer and sacrifice to God. Mass is an important act of our life. In it, we offer God all our work, our joys and sorrows, our whole life.
By participating in the mass celebration, our faith and love grow, we gain new strength to fulfill our life tasks and announce the Good News and help our brothers and sisters. Participation in the Holy Mass on Sundays and on holy days is the duty of every believer.
There, under the circumstances of bread and wine, the most perfect sacrifice, Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross for us, is renewed. Since the Holy Mass is something wonderful and perfect and our relationship, our participation in the Holy Mass should be as perfect and complete as possible. We participate with Jesus in the Holy Mass if we offer it in the same spirit in which Jesus offers it, in heartfelt gratitude, in pure love and with complete surrender to God the Father. It used to be said that it was enough to get to the lift for it to be worth it if you were at the Holy Mass. Today, theologians say that it should be from the beginning to the end, that means from the crucifixion at the beginning to the final blessing. We should come a little earlier and focus on what we are participating in now. We cannot say that we have participated sufficiently when we have the opportunity to come to the beginning or we have come to the church, but we do not go inside but talk and smoke outside, and especially when that murmur disturbs those who are in the church. Full participation consists in listening to the word of God, thinking about what we have heard, praying and singing, the climax is in receiving communion. During the Holy Mass, one should not talk unless something is necessary to say. Cell phones are turned off before entering the church.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN HOLY MASS?
Sit: When reading the Epistle, but for the Gospels, stand
During the sermon
During the offering of gifts until the invocation “Pray brothers and sisters” After Holy Communion until the prayer “Let’s pray”
Bow your head: In belief in the words: “He was incarnated by the Holy Spirit”
Kneel: During the consecration and raising of the Body and Blood of Christ, i.e. when the priest lays his hands on the Mass gifts until the words “Secret of Faith” are pronounced in the pew when we return from Holy Communion
Stands: In all other situations
- During the service, adapt your body position to the others, i.e. don’t kneel when everyone is standing or sit when everyone is kneeling, etc.
- During the sermon, avoid anything that could disturb or offend the preacher, such as talking, looking around, coughing noisily, laughing, yawning, sleeping or reading. If the preacher’s words encourage you to have a stronger faith, thank the Lord, if they seem incomprehensible and boring to you, show it as a small sacrifice to the Lord.
- If you enter the church during the conversion, kneel immediately at the entrance to disturb others, and so that they do not turn around until the holy act is over, and then go to your place. The sign of peace is a symbolic gesture: it is enough to extend your hand to those who are close to you, without unnecessary walking around the church or talking loudly. Above all, make sure that your heart is reconciled with God and with people.
HOW TO RECEIVE HOLY COMMUNION?
- When receiving Holy Communion, first revive the faith in your heart that you are receiving the real Body of Jesus in the consecrated host.
2. The Church has approved the receiving of Holy Communion in two ways: receiving with the lips and receiving with the hand. If you receive Holy Communion on your hand, do not hold the rosary or any other object in your hands and take off your gloves if you are wearing them. He stretched out his left palm in front of the priest, and supported it with his right, and when the priest pointed to the host and said: “The Body of Christ”, he answered “Amen”, which means: it is indeed the Body of Christ, I believe it is so.
- When the priest places the host in your palm, immediately in front of him, after you have said: “Amen”, carefully put it in your mouth with the fingers of your right hand.
- Do not directly take the holy host from the priest’s hands, but wait for him to place it on your hand.
- After receiving Holy Communion, go to your place, kneel and pray and give thanks in silence for a while. WHO MAY NOT RECEIVE HOLY COMMUNION?
1. Non-Catholics.
- Anyone who is aware of a grave sin should confess before receiving Holy Communion, for example, unjustified absence from Sunday Holy Mass is a grave sin, etc.
3. Those who live unmarried or only in a civil marriage.
- Excommunicated from the church and those who obstinately persist in manifest grievous sin.
5. Those who come to the church immediately before the distribution of Holy Communion, without having participated in the entire Holy Mass.
6. Those who did not abstain from food and drink one hour before Holy Communion (except water and medicine).
- Those who chew gum during Holy Mass.
HOW TO ADORISE, BOW BEFORE THE MOST HOLY?
“Celebration of the Eucharist outside the Holy Mass is an invaluable gift in the life of the Church. This veneration is closely connected with the celebration of the Eucharistic Sacrifice. Christ’s presence under the holy occasions that are kept after Mass – a presence that lasts even when there is an occasion of bread and wine – derives from the celebration of the Sacrifice and heavier communion, sacramentally and spiritually. It is up to the pastors to encourage, through personal testimony, Eucharistic worship, especially the presentation of the Blessed Sacrament, as well as prayers of adoration before Christ present on Eucharistic occasions.
It is pleasant to stay with Him, and like a beloved disciple, resting your head on His chest (cf. Jn 13:25), to be touched by the immeasurable love of His Heart. If Christianity in our time must be distinguished above all by the “Art of prayer”, how can we not feel a renewed need to spend a longer time in spiritual conversation, in silent worship, in an attitude of love before Christ present in the Most Holy Altar Sacrament? How many times, my dear brothers and sisters, have I had that experience and drawn strength, comfort and help from it! This practice, which the Magisterium always praises and recommends, is witnessed by numerous saints by their example. In a special way: St. Alfonz M. Luigori.” (John Paul II. “Church on the Eucharist” number 25)Josef G. Cascales: Fullness of life

Bruno Ferrero: THE STORY FOR THE END
Rosary prayer
Dear friend!
May this rosary become a blessing to you.
May he be your guide on the way to God and may he grant you the grace of complete commitment to God. So that Christ is recognizable through you.
May it lead you to sacrifice, so that you can bring Jesus to people.
May he give you endurance on your Mount of Olives, perseverance under the blows of adversity, and patience when pressed by the crown of thorns.
May he also accompany you on your Way of the Cross and may he strengthen you until your last breath.
May he give you faith in the resurrection, longing for the Eternal, joy and peace in God.
May he lead you to the fullness of life and may he give you perfection in Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Your friends from the Križevci Association of Invalids are praying for you
The year 2003 (A.D.2003) was called the “Year of the Rosary” by the holy father Pope John – Paul II, proclaiming the new mysteries of the Rosary: the mysteries of light, and thus invited the entire Christian Catholic population to pray the Rosary. Among other things, the Holy Father Pope emphasized: “The Rosary is my favorite prayer! The Rosary places us in living communion with Jesus through the heart of His Mother. You kiss the mother of Jesus, praying the rosary. I encourage you to persevere in that piety of yours which, if you understand and live it correctly, surely leads you to penetrate more and more into the mystery of Christ, our Savior” (Pope John – Paul II) WHAT IS THE ROSARY? The rosary is an evangelical prayer, because it draws the object of the mysteries and mainly its forms from the gospel. It is inspired by the Gospel and offers believers the entire mystery of Jesus’ life, from the mystery of Jesus’ conception, through miracles and preaching, to his death, resurrection and ascension. The fourfold division of the rosary into joyous, sorrowful, glorious and mysteries of light represents the basic plan of the primordial proclamation of faith and re-presents the mystery of Christ in the world, the mystery in which he was seen by St. Paul described in the famous hymn of the Epistle to the Philippians: humiliation, death, exaltation (Phil 2:6-11). Another important component of the rosary is consideration. By its very nature, the prayer of the rosary requires a calm rhythm and the thought element of Christian meditation, which promotes in the supplicant the contemplation of the mysteries of the Lord’s life, as it is possible to know them through the heart of the One who was closest to the Lord. Because of this, the prayer of the rosary is in the closest relationship with Mary, the Mother of Jesus, who was united with Christ in his saving mission. That is why the prayer of the rosary is at the same time a prayer to Mary, our best intercessor and intercessor with her Son and our Lord. “The rosary is a prayer that we pray together with Mary in a special way, just as the apostles prayed together with her in the dining hall of the ‘Last Supper’ when they were preparing to receive the Holy Spirit” (Pope John – Paul II). Christ-centeredness of the rosary Through the sacraments, a Christian is conformed to Christ: his being is transformed anew. From there comes the Christian’s obligation to live like Christ. In order to be able to live like Christ, it is absolutely necessary for a Christian to constantly have before his eyes the mysteries of Jesus’ life. The Church proposes them to him in sacramental celebrations, especially in the Eucharistic celebration and throughout the liturgical year. On the other hand, no one ever imitated the Savior more perfectly, no one was ever more conformed to Him than His Mother Mary. Therefore, the rosary is simply an aid by which every Christian who prays the rosary has before the eyes of his soul the presence of the mysteries of Jesus and Mary, so that they can be a light in our life, which should be as conformed as possible to Them. The discussion of the mysteries takes place on the basis of voice repetition of the Hail Mary. In this way, they pray with their lips and heart, and the complete person of the supplicant enters into communion with God through Christ, the only mediator between God and people. Therefore, to pray the rosary means to join the great current of prayer, in the countless chorus of Christian and saintly generations who loved it and implemented it in their lives. “If the rosary has always been the prayer of the “difficult times of the Church”, it is especially necessary today for it to enter the daily life of all believers, in order to awaken and strengthen their faith in God and his Church. (Fr. Henrik M. Rossetti, OP) “Mary’s rosary has been raised to the level of magnificent, public and universal prayer in the ordinary and extraordinary needs of the Holy Church, the people and the world.” (Pope John XXIII)
How to pray the rosary? Taking the rosary in hand, kiss the holy cross saying the words: Jesus, it is for Your love, for the conversion of sinners and as compensation for the insults inflicted on the holy and sinless Heart of Mary! Continue with the sign of the cross: In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen. Holding the cross, pray the Apostles’ Creed: I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, tortured under Pontius Pilate, crucified, died and was buried; descended upon hell, rose from the dead on the third day; ascended into heaven, sits at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and eternal life. Amen. After the belief, on the first grain that follows the cross, pray: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. thy kingdom come; your will be done both in heaven and on earth. Give us today our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors, and do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. On the next three grains, three Hail Marys are prayed with intentions: 1. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord be with you. Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Who may multiply our faith. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. 2. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord be with you. Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Who may strengthen our hope. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. 3. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord be with you. Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Who may perfect our love. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. On the fifth bead, pray: Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, so it is now and forever and ever. Amen. Always after the Glory be to the Father is added the prayer that Our Lady taught the children in Fatima, which reads: O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from hellfire, bring all souls to heaven, especially those who need Your mercy the most. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. thy kingdom come; your will be done both in heaven and on earth. Give us today our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors, and do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. Then it is moved to the prayer of ten, i.e. mysteries (joyous, sorrowful, glorious and bright) depending on the day it is prayed: (Joyful Mysteries – Monday and Thursday, Sorrowful Mysteries – Tuesday and Friday, Glorious Mysteries – Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, Light Mysteries – Thursday and Saturday) Always it is good that after reading the mystery, which the supplicant will consider, there should be a short reflection on that mystery. In each mystery (ten), one Lord’s Prayer, ten Hail Marys, one Glory Be to the Father and the Fatima prayer are prayed. It is recommended to pray the Lord’s Prayer, the Hail Mary and the Glory be to the Father in honor of the Holy Spirit at the behest of the Holy Father, and to add the Hail Queen and Lauretan Litany. What are the mysteries of the rosary?

“I am the King of Mercy”
To expand the Message of Divine Mercy, Jesus asked Sister Faustina in Krakow in 1931: «Paint my picture as you see me, and write below: «JESUS, I TRUST IN YOU!» and spread it to be celebrated all over the world!” Jesus taught Sister Faustina to pray a special Rosary and promised: “Everyone who prays it will experience my Mercy in life, and especially at the hour of death. If he were a stubborn sinner, … even if he prays this Rosary just once, he will have a share in the grace of my immeasurable Mercy. If she prays with the dying, God’s wrath will be alleviated, and after the bitter Passion of the Divine Son, this soul will be overwhelmed by immense Mercy. Rosary of Divine Mercy On the first three beads: Our Father…, Hail Mary…, Belief… On the big beads: “Eternal Father, I present to You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of your beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, as satisfaction for our sins and sins of the whole world.” In small words: “After His bitter Passion, have mercy on us and the whole world.” At the end, after 5 tens, add 3 times: “Holy God, Holy Strong God, Holy Immortal God, have mercy on us and the whole world.” Arrow prayer to the dying Savior Merciful Jesus, at the hour of Your death for us on the cross, I bow to You, I praise You and I beg you, embrace the whole world with your immeasurable Mercy, especially poor sinners and the dying. Amen.
ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY – THE GREAT LADY, August 18
The most popular Marian holidays include: Mary’s Assumption into Heaven. Anyone who can, tries to make a pilgrimage to a Marian shrine for the Assumption. That is why our Marian sanctuaries are full that day, all singing a dear pilgrim song, lit not only by the summer sun but even more by fervor, prayer and piety. The people of God sensed with their sense of faith that it was the day of Mary’s glory, and that is why they gave vent to their joy in prayer, song, and acts of piety.
Theology teaches us that Mary’s ascension of soul and body to heaven is the crown of her motherhood, eternal virginity and immaculate conception. The doctrine of Mary’s ascension to heaven after the end of her earthly life was declared an article of faith on November 1, 1950 by Pope Pius XII.
From XIII. century and beyond, the entire Christian tradition is unanimous in believing in Mary’s ascension to heaven with soul and body. Pope Benedict XIV. in the XVIII century, discussing the feasts of the Mother of God, he writes: “Whoever bothers to study the old documents, in which this feast is called the Dormition, will find this answer: the Dormition and the Ascension are one and the same thing.”
II. the Vatican council in the eighth chapter of the Decree on the Church literally quotes the words of the dogmatic bull on the Assumption of Mary by Pius XII: “At last the Immaculate Virgin, preserved pure from every stain of original sin, having completed the course of her earthly life, was taken up with soul and body to heavenly glory.” . And then he expresses the Christological purposefulness of Mary’s privileges with these words: “She was exalted by the Lord with her Son, Lord of lords and victor over sin and death.”
What Mary offers to the world today is the living and concrete reality of the Savior of the world in his incarnation. It forces us to believe in Christ, but not as we sometimes unconsciously imagine him, as a being who is partly God and partly human, but as a being who is fully divine and fully human. Mary is the guardian of the reality of the incarnation.
Therefore, let us join the long procession of Mary’s pilgrims, both today and in the past; and those learned, who discussed her ascension so learnedly and so beautifully, and those ignorant with a rosary in their hand and with a song on their lips, who celebrate with their hearts the most beautiful day of Mary.
Mary, Queen of Peace, pray for us.
